QANDA is an AI-powered educational platform designed to help students across the globe solve academic problems quickly and deepen their understanding through guided assistance. Developed by Mathpresso in South Korea, QANDA allows students to simply snap a photo of a math, science, or language problem and receive a step-by-step solution along with explanatory content. Over time, the platform has grown into a full learning support ecosystem, offering tutoring, video lessons, test prep tools, and AI-driven enhancements.

At its core, QANDA’s OCR (Optical Character Recognition) engine reads the problem from the uploaded image, transforms it into machine-readable format, and matches it with solution pathways and examples from its vast database. This is complemented by AI reasoning layers and crowd / tutor contributions, which together refine accuracy and explanation quality. As of March 2024, QANDA had solved more than 6.3 billion questions globally.

Beyond solving individual problems, QANDA offers video lectures and micro-lesson content that help students grasp foundational principles and avoid repeating mistakes. Students can also engage in one-on-one tutoring sessions where human tutors guide them through difficult topics. The app includes features such as study timers, progress tracking, “study rooms” to create motivation, and peer learning via community forums.

QANDA also invests in advanced AI tools. For example, its in-house MathGPT model (developed in collaboration with Upstage and KT) was reported in January 2024 to have outperformed other AI benchmarks in mathematical reasoning tasks.  In March 2024, the company launched Prep.Pie, a generative AI tool designed to generate personalized study and exam prep content.

While many features are free, QANDA offers premium subscription tiers that unlock unlimited access to video lessons, priority tutor access, and advanced AI question solving. This freemium model allows broad access while catering to students who want deeper support.
