Smartsheet AI is the generative intelligence extension built into the Smartsheet work management platform, designed to help teams turn raw sheet data into actionable insights, texts, and automated processes. Rather than relying entirely on manual formula creation, dashboard building, or repetitive writing, users can now ask the system in natural language to generate formulas, summarize content, analyze trends, or suggest descriptions, all while maintaining full data context and control.

One of the central capabilities is formula generation: instead of writing complex or unfamiliar syntax, a user can type a plain‑language request (for example, “calculate monthly growth rate” or “find overdue tasks by department”) and the AI will convert it to a working Smartsheet formula referencing columns and appropriate logic. This reduces friction for non-technical users and accelerates sheet setup. Alongside that, the AI can instantly analyze tabular data, generate charts or visual metrics based on prompts, and surface insights like outliers, variances, or budget overruns.

Text generation and summarization is another major feature: users can convert many rows of task descriptions or notes into concise summaries, draft messages, refine content, detect sentiment, or produce on‑brand descriptions for assets under Brandfolder integration. Suggested descriptions make assets easier to understand and reuse. The AI is integrated contextually into the sheet environment, accessible via a panel inside the sheet interface, so users can toggle between “generate formulas” and “text / summaries.”

Smartsheet ensures enterprise-grade trust around its AI. Data used by these features is not used to train public models.
